Are you the team that organized the original DashCon?
No! Our team is not associated with the original organizers. We’re a completely different group with a very different plan for DashCon 2.
Are you officially affiliated with Tumblr?
Also nope! We’ve been in communication with some staff members at Tumblr, so they’re aware of our existence (and excited to see how this will go). But they’re not sponsoring us, nor are they involved in any aspect of the actual event organization.
This is crazy/why should we trust you?
We actually already did this! DashCon 2 went off without a hitch in 2025, and we’re looking to make it a yearly thing.
Are you a Tumblr Con?
DashCon Two is an internet history con, celebrating a very specific era of fandom culture, as well as the original DashCon event. We want to bring people together to reminisce on an era long past, and to celebrate the local artists, performers, and creators of today. In short: no, we’re not a Tumblr convention.
So why DashCon 2?
Why not? But really, DashCon has such a distinctive legacy. It’s a legend in convention history. When we looked at our combined skill sets and realized we had a very real chance of making a DashCon 2 that actually happened, we got to planning.
What even IS DashCon 2?
It’s a celebration of DashCon. It’s also a celebration of local artists, fandom, and internet history. And it’s also kind of dancing on DashCon’s grave.
When even is DashCon 2?
August 1st – August 2nd, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Are you running DashCon 2 Romania?
Nope, but we’ve spoken with them about their plans and licensed them the DashCon 2 name. We have a lot of confidence in their team, and we’ll be cheering them on from the sidelines! Learn more about them at their website, dashcon2romania.com!
Can I run a DashCon where I live?
We’d be happy to talk to you about the possibility of licensing our name for a convention in your area! We understand the challenges facing first-year con organizers, and we’d love to see as many people as possible experience the joy of our community. Please reach out to us at licensing@dashcontwo.com.
Will there be a ball pit?
Yes.
Logistics
You said in-person. Will there be an online DashCon 2?
Yes! Virtual DashCon 2 tickets are currently for sale on our Simpli Events page. Virtual DashCon 2, or VirtualDash is a full virtual convention that runs in parallel with DashCon 2. It sports its own schedule of panels, guest appearances, and dealer’s hall, as well as livestreams of much of the in-person convention. All of this will be hosted on our private Discord server, where the staff will also be hosting regular events leading up to the convention!
How do you intend to ensure guest safety?
We take the safety and security of our guests seriously. All attendees will be expected to follow the policies and regulations outline on the DashCon 2 convention policies page. These regulations are in place to ensure the safety and comfort of our attendees, staff, and guests. Our volunteers and professional security teams will be taking steps to ensure these rules are enforced. Serious violations of the DashCon 2 convention policies will result in the offending party’s wristband being revoked
Besides managing the previous convention, what experience does your team have?
Our organizers primarily have experience in planning community events, such as art markets, music festivals, or educational events. Most of us also have years of experience volunteering at and attending cons, amongst other events such as cultural or music festivals. While this is our first time planning a convention, we’ve been professionally involved in planning comparable events.
Do you have a venue booked?
Yes! We’re renting the Japanese Canadian Cultural Center, a Toronto venue with a great team and experience hosting conventions!
What are you doing to make sure this event actually happens as intended?
The big thing is communication. We’re working to make sure our entire team is on the same page! We also have a clear goal, and a solid plan in place on how to achieve it. It’s sort of hard to summarize the experience and competence of a whole team in a few sentences, so please keep an eye our blog for more information and updates!
What are you calling the second DashCon 2? DashCon 2: 2? DashCon 3?
Neither! DashCon 2 is taking on themed titles, much like they do in the Fast and the Furious franchise. Since our theme for this year is “French Revolution” (see our Lore page for more details), the convention’s name is DashCon 2: Vive la Révolution!, or DashCon 2: Revolution for short.
About the Ball Pit
Will there really be a ball pit?
Yes. This was the first thing we decided.
How do you expect to keep people from peeing in the ball pit?
The ball pit will be supervised at all times.
Can I pee in the ball pit?
No.
Can I get an extra hour in the ball pit?
Yep! One charity raffle ticket will be randomly selected as the Golden Ticket, winning the glorious Extra Hour in the Ball Pit. The extra hour is the final hour before it closes for the day.
The Extra Hour will only be available to be won on Saturday.
