Every year, DashCon 2 supports a cause meaningful to its staff and its audience. This year, we have selected Rainbow Railroad.
Rainbow Railroad is a charity that helps LGBTQ+ people escape persecution and rebuild their lives in safe places. Queer people face state-sponsored persecution in over sixty countries, and the loss of USAID put even more queer people at risk.
Rainbow Railroad helps queer folks resettle in Canada and the United States, but recent swings in the political climate have made the latter more complicated. They are closely monitoring the situation, and have launched a few new programs to support at-risk migrants that have already resettled in North America. These include providing cash grants to migrants in need and for the grassroots organizations supporting them.
We could not think of a better charity to support given the current climate. If you would like to learn more about what they do and how you can support them (not just financially), we encourage you to visit their website.
In 2025 we had an active donation page through which anyone could donate directly to our previous fundraising initiative for the Canadian Cancer Society (Learn more here!). However, as Rainbow Railroad is a smaller organization with fewer resources, they cannot maintain an indefinite donation portal for anyone fundraising on their behalf. Instead, Rainbow Railroad partners with other organizations to host donation portals around the Pride season. Consequently, our portal with them will open sometime in May. Stay tuned!

DashCon 2 hosts a raffle for charity both in person and online at VirtualDash. Prizes range from a ball pit ball signed by Strange Aeons to a replica Thomas Jefferson Miku binder. (And of course, an extra hour in the ball pit.)
